Key Takeaway
- The product has had three names in four years. It shipped as iAuditor, became SafetyCulture in 2022, and was renamed Mitti in August 2026.
- Price is rarely the first reason teams leave. The free tier caps you at five active templates, and the $24 per seat paid tier only becomes the problem past about thirty people.
- Four exits cover most switches: findings that need to become maintenance work, inspections where location is the primary field, paper forms that have to be reproduced exactly, and multi-site audit programmes on a tight budget.
- Only one alternative is cheaper at every team size. GoAudits Starter runs $10 per user per month, with limits that rule it out for anyone needing an API or more than 25 sites.
- Switching costs more than the licence difference. Template rebuilds, historical export and retraining are the three line items people leave out of the business case.
Overview
01
What you are actually searching for
Three names, one product. The inspection app launched as iAuditor, the company renamed it SafetyCulture in 2022, and in August 2026 the product became Mitti while the corporate entity kept the SafetyCulture name. Pricing pages on safetyculture.com now redirect to mitti.com, so anyone comparing vendors from an article written before last August is reading about a product that no longer carries that label.
If you are reading this you are already on the platform and weighing a move, not picking from scratch, and this page is written for that position. Starting fresh instead? Our comparison of digital inspection software ranks the field on features and price, and United Kingdom buyers have a separate roundup of digital inspection apps in the UK.
Every figure below was checked on the vendor pricing pages on 16 October 2026.
Reasons
02
Five reasons teams leave, in the order they come up
Nobody switches because a competitor has a nicer interface. The move costs weeks of rebuild and retraining, so it happens when the current tool blocks something operational. These are the five we hear most often.
The fault is found but never fixed
Form-first platforms treat a defect as a notification. The repair, the part and the close-out against asset history then live in a system nobody reconciles.
Location is the primary field
Utility, environmental and linear asset work is organised by where, not by what. Without offline basemaps, polygon capture and a real ArcGIS tie, a general tool fights you on every job.
The form has to look like the form
Some records go to a client, an insurer or a regulator who has read the same layout for fifteen years. Rebuilding it as a generic checklist changes the document.
Per-seat pricing at scale
At ten inspectors the seat price is noise. At a hundred it is one of the largest lines in the operations budget, and finance starts asking what it buys.
Customisation past the template
Template libraries are the reason to buy and the reason to leave. Once you need a calculation, an integration or a workflow the library cannot express, you are in a professional services conversation.
Options
03
Where each alternative actually lands
Match the alternative to the reason you are leaving, not to the overall review score. A platform that solves the blocker somebody else had will reproduce yours.
MaintainX, when findings have to become work
MaintainX came from the maintenance side rather than the forms side, so work orders, asset histories and parts inventory are native instead of bolted on. Basic is free and usable. Model Premium rather than the entry tier, because $20 per user billed annually, or $25 monthly, becomes $65, or $75 monthly, once you need open API access, parts inventory or unlimited advanced analytics (MaintainX pricing).
Fulcrum, when location is the data
Offline basemaps, line and polygon capture, location-tracked audio and a documented REST API all come as standard here rather than as paid add-ons. Professional is $43 per user licence per month and Elite is $55, both annual only, with a five-user minimum. The tier split sets your price, because SSO, SCIM, operational and query API access, webhooks and ArcGIS Enterprise connectivity are all Elite features (Fulcrum pricing). The builder is heavy without GIS experience.
GoFormz, when the document has to survive
GoFormz reproduces your existing paper layout instead of replacing it with a checklist, and SharePoint, Google Workspace, Box and monday.com integrations come with the entry plan. The pricing model is what catches people: Starter is $499 per month, or $4,999 on annual billing, covering ten users and thirty templates with 600 API calls per day, and anything beyond that is an Enterprise quote (GoFormz pricing). A four-person team pays the same $499 as a ten-person one, near $125 per user. See GoFormz against Mitti.
GoAudits, when the budget is the constraint
GoAudits is the cheapest credible option here, at $10 per user per month on annual billing for Starter and $30 for Enterprise, with a 20 percent discount for paying yearly, a 14-day trial and ISO 27001 certification behind it (GoAudits pricing). Read the Starter limits first. That tier covers one company, 25 locations and 10 checklist templates, with no action plan, no scheduling, no roles and permissions and no API, which puts most multi-site programmes on Enterprise at $30 against the $24 they already pay.
FastField, when the output document matters
FastField now sits under Quickbase. That is worth knowing before you contact a sales team expecting the old company. Core is $24 per seat per month and Pro is $36, both on annual billing, with external form submission packages from $90 for 50 submissions (FastField pricing). Report template control is the draw, while corrective actions are lighter than in the operations-first tools, so test that path during the trial.
Xenia, when inspections are one job among several
Xenia bundles inspections with daily tasks, SOPs, work orders and team messaging, which suits facilities, hospitality and multi-site retail where one person does the opening checks, logs the maintenance request and completes the audit. Pricing is not published. Plans are quoted per location rather than per seat, with Starter flat-rate annual and Pro per-location monthly (Xenia pricing), which rules it out of a fast shortlist and makes the inspection module broader rather than deeper.
Cost
04
Three-year licence cost at three team sizes
These are list prices multiplied out, with no volume discount applied. Vendors discount at scale and the published number is the ceiling rather than the price you will pay. Use the table to rank the options, then get quotes for the two that survive.
| Platform and tier | Per user, per month | 10 users, 3 years | 30 users, 3 years | 100 users, 3 years |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mitti Premium (current) | $24 | $8,640 | $25,920 | $86,400 |
| GoAudits Starter | $10 | $3,600 | $10,800 | $36,000 |
| MaintainX Essential | $20 | $7,200 | $21,600 | $72,000 |
| FastField Core | $24 | $8,640 | $25,920 | $86,400 |
| GoAudits Enterprise | $30 | $10,800 | $32,400 | $108,000 |
| FastField Pro | $36 | $12,960 | $38,880 | $129,600 |
| Fulcrum Professional | $43 | $15,480 | $46,440 | $154,800 |
| Fulcrum Elite | $55 | $19,800 | $59,400 | $198,000 |
| MaintainX Premium | $65 | $23,400 | $70,200 | $234,000 |
| GoFormz Starter | Packaged | $14,997 | Enterprise quote | Enterprise quote |
Two readings come out of that table. Below about thirty users the gap between most options is smaller than the cost of switching, so unless you are blocked on a feature the move is hard to justify on price alone. Above a hundred users the annual difference between the cheapest and the most expensive row runs past $50,000, and the business case writes itself.
Migration
05
What the switch costs beyond the licence
The licence delta is the number people put in the business case. These three are the ones that turn a two-week migration into a two-month one.
- Template rebuild. Inspection templates do not port between platforms. Every form has to be rebuilt, including the conditional logic, the scoring rules and the photo requirements, then tested against a real site visit before anyone trusts it.
- Historical records. Export what you have before you cancel, and check the format. A CSV of answers without the attached photographs is not an audit trail, and regulators who ask for a record from two years ago will not accept a spreadsheet row.
- Retraining the people who did not ask for this. Inspectors learned one app. The office team learned one report format. Budget a supervised week on site rather than a webinar, because the failure mode is quiet reversion to paper.
One more thing to check in your own documentation. Internal procedures, training material, vendor records and purchase orders all still say SafetyCulture or iAuditor. Whether you switch or stay, that cleanup is a day of work for someone.
Custom
06
When the answer is none of them
Sometimes the shortlist runs out. If three platforms each solve two thirds of the process and you have been quoted professional services by all three to close the gap, you are no longer buying a product. You are commissioning a build with a licence attached, and paying the licence forever.
Dev Station Technology builds custom inspection platforms for teams in the United States and the United Kingdom, on the cases a template library cannot express: readings pulled straight off torque testers and gauges over Bluetooth, capture that survives a full day with no signal, certificates formatted to what an auditor or an insurer accepts. The platform and the data stay in your own cloud tenant, in the region your policy requires.
Two numbers decide it. Take your three-year licence cost at realistic headcount from the table above, then count the places your workflow breaks the platform you are trialling. If the first is large and the second is more than one, price a build before you sign a renewal.
Send us your two or three busiest inspection forms and your retention rule. We will tell you whether something on this page already carries them, and if it does, we will say so.
FAQ
07
Frequently asked questions
What teams ask when they start looking for a way off their current platform.
What is the best SafetyCulture alternative?
It depends which limit pushed you out. MaintainX when findings have to become maintenance work orders, Fulcrum when location is the primary field, GoFormz when the paper layout has to be reproduced exactly, and GoAudits when budget is the binding constraint. If asset tracking is part of the requirement, our MapTrack and Mitti comparison covers that axis.
Is Mitti the same as iAuditor and SafetyCulture?
Yes, it is one product with three names. The app launched as iAuditor, was renamed SafetyCulture in 2022, and became Mitti in August 2026, while the company itself still trades as SafetyCulture. Pricing pages on the old domain redirect to mitti.com.
Is there a free alternative to SafetyCulture?
MaintainX has a free Basic tier with unlimited work orders and unlimited requester users, which is the most usable free option here. Mitti itself is free for up to ten people, capped at five active inspection templates. Free tiers in this category are limited by template count rather than user count, so check that against the number of distinct checks you run.
How much does SafetyCulture cost in 2026?
Mitti Premium is $24 per seat per month billed annually, or $29 monthly, with Free covering up to ten seats and Enterprise quoted. Ask about the location model too. It prices one fixed amount per site with unlimited users, which suits a high inspector headcount spread across few sites.
Can I export my data out of an inspection platform?
Export is available everywhere, and what comes out varies enormously. Ask specifically whether the export includes the photographs, the timestamps, the signatures and the corrective action history, or only the answers. Run a real export during the trial on an account with live data, because a format you cannot read is the same as no export at all.
How long does migrating between inspection platforms take?
Two to three weeks for a single site with a handful of templates, and two to three months for a multi-site programme. The variable is not the software, it is how many templates carry conditional logic and scoring that has to be rebuilt and retested. One site running properly before you roll out anywhere else is the reasonable target.
